Post covid I took an interest in financial literacy. I was in debt, every month felt more expensive than the last and I was barely paycheck to paycheck. Once I realized how underwater I was, I went on a debt free journey. Student loans, car loan, credit cards, building an actual emergency fund savings, creating and maxing out my retirement accounts, etc.
For about 2 years I was on a 3+ job grind. 80 hour weeks. 5am-3am and repeat. Sometimes for 15 days in a row before my next day off, then repeat. Convinced myself I couldn't afford to drink or smoke weed and just threw everything into 30k+ of high interest debt. I found time to write this song one night when I was sleep deprived after my biggest week yet at the time and made 10k in about 11 days. (that was not normal, it was just a huge week with some freelance gigs + my multi job paycheck streams) and thus, 80 HRS was born.
I could talk about this time in my life for hours (pun only partially intended) but anyways this song means a lot to me when looking back on that brutal time.
